This is a Modern Qigong Series to learn the Shibashi form over 9 weeks. The Shibashi Series was created by Professor Lin Hou Sheng in 1979. Shibashi literally means 18 movements and is one of the most popular Qigong forms in the world.  Shibashi is a gentle flowing form of exercise that refines the essence and movements of Tai Chi into a set that is quick and easy to learn and is practised around the world by millions of people. 

The 18 Shibashi exercises are designed to improve the general health and wellbeing of the practitioner, by providing a gentle physical and mental workout for the body and mind. The gentle rocking motions and stretching movements improve circulation and digestion. The chest exercises and controlled breathing are good for lung conditions and asthma. The overall effect is to reduce mental stress and physical tension, hence cultivating relaxation and energy. 

Qigong in general is as a gentle and restorative exercise therapy, the purpose being to release tension; physical, mental and emotional, in order to allow the energy of the body to circulate freely and without stagnation or blockage. During Qigong we focus and anchor our attention on the breath, the body and the sensation of Qi; the feeling of aliveness within. When practicing our intention is to be embodied and present, to connect with ourselves in a holistic way. 

There are numerous principals and dimensions to the practice of this beautiful form of self-care and restoration, the essence being to slow down, soften the heart and to do less.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled class time, there is no access once class commences.
A commitment to the entire series is required... this is a course-based series therefore missed classes are forfeit.
